Tt has been attending a “parent/kid” Kung Fu introduction, which has been a blast. This past class was all about the tradition of the Lion Dance, which I’ve always mistakenly thought was the Dragon Dance. Anywhoo, again, a blast.

First everyone had a turn working the Lion’s head. The instructor showed them how to hold it, work the eyebrows and ears, flap the mouth, pick it’s nose with your foot…
He went through the entire ceremony and what each part meant, from waking the Lion to bowing your respects to bobbing up and down and finally putting the Lion back to it’s snoring sleep.

Tt and his Dad had to practice walking around like two parts of the same Lion, not a head and bum each with minds of their own… Tt had more fun as the bum. Shocking. Not.

Doing the dance! Neither quite got their “Horse pose” down for the Lion, but no matter.

Naturally they had to both come back with the head and scare poor wee brother Boo…
And that was the Dragon – I mean LION – dance!
