Christes Maesse

Tt’s presentation of “Medieval Christmas” for Homeschool Club’s “Christmas Around the World” day.
I find it so much easier to video tape his practice round at home, where Boo isn’t tugging at my arms and other kids aren’t talking.

.

Ok. This book actually is very good. The decorations I really like.
I never knew that the Romans had Christmas. I wonder if the Greeks had Christmas too…
I also never knew they did plays without any words (Mumming) - sorta sounds like “humming”.
My favorite part of a Medieval Christmas would have been the decorations. In particularily, the orange one (pomanders) - I call them Charmanders. (way to incorporate Pokemon into Medieval times, Tt…)

Please watch my video. It will be going on TV (Apple TV, that is!).

Ahhh, the study of English with boys… How wonderful to learn so many of our subjects through our bodily functions.

Charlemagne, such as it is…

One of the things I like about homeschooling – sometimes the dog does eat your homework, and your teacher completely understands.

Try, try, try as we might, today’s Biography Fair just wasn’t meant to happen. Nor, so it seems, was it meant to be recorded for posterity other than this one photograph.

So, here we have it. Tayler’s Biography project on Charles Magnus, a.k.a. Charlemagne.

Math Worksheet

We’re starting our multiplication tables, so I made this quick table. It can be used for adding, and with a diagonal line to “cross out” negative numbers (for now), also subtraction.
Hopefully a right-click save-as works!
Enjoy!

Cool Science/Socials :)

We ended up spending a LONG time on YouTube this am after an email recommended viewing “They Might Be Giants”. Awesome.

Check it out – Tt’s been singing “We’re the Mesopotamians” all morning since… And now wants to re-read all we’d learned about Mesopotamia earlier in the school year! Good job, Mr. Giants :) .

I want you to watch it, and I also want to watch it again myself.

I like the Bloodmobile and the one that almost looked like a video game (Scientific Method – To the Test).

WAAAAAY more uploads can be found here:

This is a great place to visit! We had a good field trip here w/ the YNC – even want to go back right away for a second trip on our own.

The field trip focused on art in nature – lines, patterns, colors, etc. Wonderful.

Some pics…

I went on a field trip. My brother, which was three, pulled a fire alarm (of course that becomes the most memorable part…). Mom and me laughed our heads off (out of embarassment!), but it was already the end of the field trip.

I got to make a butterfly. Here it is, Step 1. Get a tiny piece of paper, fold it in half, cut it in the shape of a butterfly, get some paint, paint one side with lots of paint anyway, then don’t paint the other side. You just squish it together and woila, you have it.

There was a whole bunch of horns. I got to see an alligator body – it was so cool. I liked the blue whale bones at the front.

Oh, did I mention that my brother pulled the fire alarm?

Tt’s homeschool club presentation for “Book in a Bag” day…

For our Story of the World chapter on Phoenicia, we decided to make Phoenician-style bread – basically PITA.
Tt reeeaaalllyyyy got into the pounding and punching of the dough…

Mixing…
Kneading…

Rising… (It was fun watching it double up in size to burst out of the bowl!

Can’t remember what this stage is called, but it’s safe to say it was his favorite part of the whole thing…

And finally – the baking!
If only school was always this yummy :)

African Masks

My Mom cut out some paper things that look like masks, which I actually wore.
Then we got to paint our own African thing. I made up mine, Mom made up hers.

I got to make four or three or something like that.

.

That looks pretty funny. My brother calls it a delicious poo.

Art Books 01

I made a whole bunch of movies, which were actually books. Imagine that. Books that are  movies.
Can you imagine that? Haha.

This is a book on Egyptians and the Israelites.

.

.

I also made Knights movie books, I made Tom the cat – a book on some cute cat, and I also made a book on the Knight and the Skull, and a Pirate book, Star Wars, and a love story (so freakin’ cute!!).
They always have a movie thing on the front and an “X” on the back.
